Shawn shot this picture of a naval destroyer steaming up the Bay when he was out fishing this afternoon.

Who needs to go shopping when you can fish?

I swear Daniel and Shawn were on this fishing trip (Tiffany, Ella & I did go shopping; Jacob slept in), but Cory seemed to be the only one who had any luck.

He landed the biggest rockfish of the day, the biggest perch we've caught since moving to Maryland, and a pretty nice looking trout!

On the Ferry

No one was in the mood to spend "Black Friday" in the mall (and it was too windy to fish), so we drove over to Lewes, Delaware and caught the ferry to Cape May, NJ.

Cape May is a charming Victorian seaside town at the southern end of New Jersey. The ferry takes about an hour-and-a-half across the Delaware Bay. It was a beautiful day, but the ride was pretty choppy. As we bounced over six-foot swells, I think the boys were very happy with their decision to leave the Sea Ray on the trailer today!

The First Thanksgiving

Shawn reads Ella the book we picked up for her when we were in Plymouth, MA last month. A very timely, if somewhat fictionalized, version of the first Thanksgiving celebration.

Thanksgiving Day in the Park

The kids drove up from Tennessee to spend Thanksgiving with us in Maryland. They got in about 4:00 this morning, driving at night to miss the traffic and maximizing the amount of time Ella slept.

While the turkey cooked and the boys fished, I took Tiffany and Ella to the Shore Acres community playground, about a half-mile from our house. Ella loves to climb and slide (on her belly!). I'm not biased or anything, but I think she's terribly cute!

As you can tell from the pictures, it's a nice day here - temperatures in the low 70s, though they're predicting colder weather by the end of the weekend.

Sunset at the Bay Bridge Tunnel

Migratory Fish

While I was in New York for work, Shawn took off for the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay, where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean. He and some friends were chasing the big migratory rockfish.

From the looks of the pictures he brought back, they were successful!

New York Street Scenes

Shawn shot these photos while he was wandering the streets of Manhattan today: the Veterans Day Parade on Fifth Avenue, the Central Park reservoir, and Times Square at dusk (notice Peyton Manning on the Jumbotron!).

I have a conference in New York this weekend, so he tagged along for the food (dinner Friday night at Mesa Grill) and the bright lights. We were a bit disappointed by the Broadway strike -- we had plans to see Spamalot with a group from the conference. We made do by going to a comedy club instead.

For mid-November, the weather (except the monsoon that was waiting for us when we stepped out of Penn Station) was incredibly pleasant.

Weekend Company

Cory came to visit this weekend. He and Shawn spent as much time as they could out on the water. Shawn's been having fun with the I-Movie program, so he didn't bring me too many still photos to post.

Be sure and check out his website (www.chesapeakelighttackle.com) for videos of Cory catching fish.
