Thanksgiving Day

We spent Thanksgiving in Lawrenceville, Georgia with Shawn's extended family at Dru & Bill Cross's house.

Colton Smith, Jacob, Shawn, Cory, and Emily Gibson enjoy the sunshine while they wait on dinner.

Ella's first Thanksgiving dinner, courtesy of Dad.

Lots of new people for Ella to meet --- With her Extra-Great Aunt Boot.

With 14-month-old cousin Landon Tabor and his Aunt Kris.

Landon dances while Daniel plays and Shawn keeps time. Dad Eric watches from the end of the couch, while Mom Sherry takes in his performance from the floor. His Grandma Barbara Stepheson and Aunt Kris are on the love seat. Cory, on the couch, doesn't seem interested....

Eric does his best to keep Cory from dressing Landon up as a Vol fan, while Shawn and Ella watch!

No worries -- I'm in charge!

Houston, We Have a Problem....

At the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

Mission Control, circa 1968 vs. Mission Control, 2006. We've come a long way since vacuum tubes, rotary phones, and pneumatic tubes!

Space Shuttle/Space Station Trainers

Both the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle have life size mock-ups in a huge hanger in Houston, so that astronauts can train on equipment that feels like the real thing (minus zero gravity, of course). While everything seemed pretty big when I was standing next to it on the ground, it's really very tiny hanging out there in orbit next to the solar system....

The only other plaque like this one....

... was left behind on the moon by Neil Armstrong!

Leah Morgan Kimbro

Leah's Christmas picture, 2006.

Thanks to Tara for sending it along. It was great to get together when we were in Tennessee last week -- we're looking forward to more family time over the hoidays.

Moon over Mooresburg

Full moon rising over Cherokee Lake, Tennessee. The lake was down when I shot this picture, standing at the end of the TVA boat launch across the road from Shawn's boyhood home in Mooresburg.

My Day With Ella

Mandy Leventhal and I got to spend the day with Ella while Tiffany was packing and moving. Being a grandmother has its privileges!

Lunch at Senor Taco -- I had the cheese enchiladas, Ella had 8 ounces of formula.

Scarecrow might be lacking, but there's no doubt about Ella's brains!

At the Tennessee Valley Winery, checking out the post-harvest grape vines.

In the park behind Mandy's house -- look at the camera!

Ella's a real swinger! That's Mandy's house in the background.

Waiting for Mom at the end of a busy day.

5404 Morning Dove Circle

If only real estate in Maryland were as reasonable as real estate in Tennessee. We bought this house in the Fountain City neighborhood of Knoxville as an investment; Daniel, Tiffany & Ella are our tenants. I never thought I'd buy a house sight unseen, but I had lots of really excellent eyes and ears on the ground. Thanks especially to our realtor Jessica Phillips Rodocker and her team of home inspectors, title agents, and appraisers; to Rosalie Sukeena, the best loan officer on the planet; and to Steve Wild, Tiffany's father, for his expert assessment and willingness to crawl in lots of dark places for us.
