New Year's Eve, Annapolis

At the last minute, we decided to go to downtown Annapolis to check out the city's First Night festivities. They closed the main streets running from the City Dock to the State Capitol to auto traffic, and hired performers -- street musicians and costumed "Father Time"/"Baby New Year" characters -- to entertain the masses.

We ate dinner at our favorite sushi bar on Main Street, sitting in a prime window seat to watch the festivities. We contemplated hanging around until midnight to watch the fireworks -- the ice cream parlor across the street from our restaurant hung a banner announcing the "Best Hot Chocolate in Annapolis!" -- but decided to head home when it started to rain. All was not lost, as we were able to see the Baltimore Inner Harbor fireworks display from our back deck.

Happy New Year!

Dianne
