In Search of Crabs

Cory, Jacob, Tiffany, and Ella came up to visit this weekend. Daniel was unable to get away -- paying gigs are hard to pass up in the summer before Tiffany starts back teaching -- and we missed having him along.

It's been hotter than normal in the DC area lately -- I heard one weatherman say that we've had the longest string of days with 90+ heat, with several days in the 100s, in more than a decade. Perfect weather to be on the water!

If you've been following Chesapeake Life, you know that Shawn's been working overtime to get the boat back in working order. After driving all over creation and pulling the engine apart three times, he got it in shape for a Saturday night run over to Cantler's for crabs. Despite the heat, it was a beautiful afternoon -- not a cloud in the sky and flat water on the Bay.

Of course, we had to stop along the way to see if we could find any rockfish. Cory came up a winner in that contest, while Jacob watched the action from the bow. I heard he did his share of fishing later off the dock, after the girls called it a night.

As always, the crab feast at Cantler's was the perfect end to a perfect day!
