Weather Takes A Toll On My Yard

And I thought we didn't buy waterfront property!

Repair Work

The only problem we had towing the Cory-Mobile back to Maryland was a flat tire on the truck. Our spare wasn't in the greatest shape, but held air long enough -- between service plazas on the Turnpike -- to get us home.

Ella Made Dessert Tonight...

...with a little help from Grannie Diannie. I swear, all I did was boil the water and give her a few directions.

Two hours later, voila: orange jell-o with mandarin oranges in a fish mold.

Crockett can't wait to try it!

Hooking Up the Corymobile

When Dad told us he'd sell us a 1987 Mazda truck for $100, I flash-backed to my early driving years, and immediately asked Cory if he'd like a "new" vehicle for his birthday. Without any trace of pride, he said yes, and the rest is history...

Christmas In Michigan

A few pictures from our Christmas adventures in Michigan. We drove this time because we needed the truck to tow a truck-sized birthday present for Cory back to Maryland.
That drive seems to get longer every time I do it. The only plus on this trip - Ohio has EZ Pass, so no stopping at the toll booths!

We stayed with Mitch & Suzi in East Lansing (thanks!) but made the trek to the farm on Christmas day to open presents with Mom & Dad and all the sisters and their families. For some reason, I didn't get a picture of the four Miller girls together.

Next time!

Happy Holidays to All!

Snowed In

Or maybe "plowed in" would be a better description of what I found when I got home this morning.

Amazingly, our 6:00 a.m. flight from Knoxville was on time. We splurged on covered parking at the airport (worth every dollar!) so we wouldn't have to dig the car out this morning. The main roads had been plowed and cleared - no problems leaving Dulles.

I dropped Shawn at his office (my office was closed - we follow the federal government), picked up Crockett, and came home to find our driveway completely plowed in by the County. I had no choice but to start shoveling. It took a few minutes, but I got the result I'd hoped for: a passing truck stopped and the driver asked if I'd like him to snowblow my driveway. Guess how long it took me to say yes??!!

Help Me Granddad!

Grannie Diannie won't stop taking pictures of me!

Aunt Boot Lets Tucker Know...

...That he's always welcome in her home!

Christmas in the Southland

Ella and Granddad pose with their Christmas dogs -- Princess and Monkey Doggie.

We're in Tennessee and Georgia this weekend to celebrate Christmas with Shawn's extended family.

We got out of town in the nick of time - the DC region is getting pelted with a huge snowstorm today. The Weather Channel says it will be a record accumulation for our area. When Shawn talked to one our our neighbors on Kent Island today, he said that there was already a foot on the ground, with more coming down.

I can hardly wait to see what we'll have when we get home.

At four months, he's getting to be quite a flirt.

Holiday Baking

I spent the weekend in the kitchen, baking Christmas cookies and making candy for Shawn to deliver to his office. I haven't done this in a few years, and forgot how much fun - but how long - it takes to get everything done.

How Do Ya Like Those Apples?

Karen and I delivered baskets of New York apples (generously donated by the NY State Agricultural Experiment Station - thanks Tom!) to the New York Congressional offices today. About halfway through the 29 House offices, I started wishing that Cornell was located in a smaller state!
