And I thought our weather was bad!

Curt Seals, Shawn's best friend and the best man at our wedding, sent this picture of storm damage to his home in Bean Station, Tennessee. We're thankful no one was hurt, but what a mess to clean up... Ouch!

Storm Clouds

Two funnel clouds touched down in Severna Park, the next town over from Arnold. The news reported that more than 30 homes were damaged, some so bad the owners can't stay in them. Shawn saw the tornados from the dock, and tried to snap some pictures before the storm blew past us. The sky was too dark to get the money shot, but I think it looks pretty dramatic anyway.

I voted!

I stopped by the Broadneck Elementary School this morning to cast my vote in Maryland's Democratic primary. Thank goodness I live in Anne Arundel County and not Montgomery County or Baltimore City -- both places had trouble with electronic voting machines that forced a judge to order the polls to stay open an hour longer in those jurisdictions.

Hopefully, they get the bugs worked out by November -- these are both Democratic strongholds and I'd hate to think that the Republicans would win on a technicality....

Late Night Eats

When hunger pangs strike in the middle of the night, few places hit the spot in quite the same way as a diner. My favorite late night spot on Capitol Hill -- Tune Inn -- was recently named one of the best bars in America by Esquire Magazine.

My new favorite in Annapolis -- Double T -- hasn't won the same recognition, but they make a heck of an eggs benedict!

Ernesto Redux

Since Shawn did such a good job blogging Ernesto up to the minute, I won't rehash, except to say that I wouldn't have been a very good pioneer. I like my power on!
