Deer Creek Fishing

It didn't take Shawn long to catch all the fish at the dam, so we decided to move a little farther off the beaten path - away from the picnickers and kayakers.

Again, it didn't take Shawn long to find fish in the clear, cold stream. Even I could see them schooling as I hiked along the path along a bluff that rose, in places, 20 feet above the stream bank.


Crockett had a great time, exploring the woods and looking for smelly things he could roll in.

Labor Day in Rocks State Park

We got up this morning without a plan. Shawn, of course, wanted to go fishing. I suggested a hike so Crockett and I wouldn't feel trapped all day on the boat!
We compromised on a hike beside a stream, loaded up the truck, and headed out in search of adventure. We ended up at Deer Creek in Rocks State Park, about 30 miles north of Baltimore. It took Shawn no time to wade in and find what he came looking for -- fish!

Happy Labor Day!

Shawn took Tim, Michael, and Ryan Mellett fishing today.

They brought home a cooler full of fish, which we cooked up for dinner.
